IABA OC Scholarship

Each year, IABA OC grants a scholarship to a law student who has demonstrated a commitment to advancing the mission of the Iranian American Bar Association, including educating the Iranian-American community about legal issues of interest and promoting the achievements of Iranian-American lawyers and other legal professionals. This year, we are pleased to offer two (2) scholarship of $1,000 in connection with the holiday of Yalda. In recognition of this celebration, recipients will be selected and announced in December.

 

Applicants must be at an accredited law school in the United States and not otherwise receiving full educational funding from another organization. Additional eligibility requirements are listed below.

(Applications may be submitted after September 1, 2025)

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the IABA Scholarship, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  1. Law School Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in, attending, or admitted to attend an ABA-accredited law school during the application year.

  2. Good Academic Standing: Must be in good academic standing at their law school.

  3. Commitment to IABA OC’s Mission: Must demonstrate a clear and sustained commitment to advancing the mission of IABA OC. Please review IABA OC’s mission statement here.

  4. Prior Recipients: Must not have previously received a scholarship from the Iranian American Bar Association (including awards from any Chapter or National).

  5. Financial Need: Must not already be a recipient of full funding for education from another institution (e.g., students receiving a full scholarship from an academic institution, members of the Armed Services attending US Military Academies, students receiving full reimbursement from an employer).

General Instructions For Form:

  • Submit only one application package.

    • Complete the application form.

    • Upload all of the application materials listed below.

  • All application materials must be completed in English. For LLM or other students with a non-U.S. academic background, include official translations of any non-English academic materials as applicable.

  • No application materials will be returned for completion and unfortunately no exceptions will be made.

  • Do NOT submit photographs of yourself with the application.

Required Application Materials

Please provide the following application materials to be considered for this scholarship:

  • Resume

  • Transcripts: Provide unofficial copies of all transcripts for your entire undergraduate college/university enrollment. Also, provide an unofficial copy of your law school transcript.

  • Personal Statement: Essay written by the applicant describing your background, interest in the legal field, and your demonstrated commitment to advancing the mission of IABA of Orange County (500 words max - please include a word count at the end of your personal statement; Personal Statement title is NOT included in Word Count).
